“Here is the promised land, full of game and birds, flowing with honey.” Rising 455.2 m above sea level, Říp Hill is visible from afar, 4 km south of Roudnice nad Labem. The summit features the Romanesque Rotunda of St. George, standing about 200 m above the surrounding fertile plain. According to legend, the forefather Čech settled here. Several viewpoints, the rotunda, and a tourist chalet dating back to 1907 are available to visitors.

Near Liběchov, in the village of Želízy, you can see monumental rock sculptures. Devil’s Heads are 9-meter-high sandstone reliefs of two giant devil heads carved between 1841–1846 by sculptor Václav Levý, a unique work in the Czech Republic. Accessible via the blue tourist trail from the Želízy municipal office.

Mordloch Cave is a natural sandstone overhang artificially expanded inside the cave, located in the enchanting forests of Liběchov in Kokořínsko. According to legend, robbers attacked travelers here during the Thirty Years’ War, giving the cave its name (“Mordloch” = “murder hole”). The cave offers a beautiful view of the nearby rock formation Seven Loaves, shaped like stacked loaves of bread or rock carving Had.

Račice Artificial Water Canal
